Paralytic Stalks is the eleventh album by of Montreal, released on February 7, 2012. The album marks a return to the more personal lyrical style that Kevin Barnes used prior to his introduction of Georgie Fruit in Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?. The album also has a more notably live sound, with many string arrangements and woodwinds, as opposed to the more electronic sound of albums like Skeletal Lamping and the funk rock sound of False Priest. For the first time in the band's history, hired session musicians were used to record the orchestral sections of the album. Kishi Bashi, who was a band member at the time, contributed to the arrangements, and helped shape the album.
