Merriweather Post Pavilion album art
Merriweather Post Pavilion is the eighth studio album by Animal Collective, released in January 2009 on Domino Records. It was recorded as a three piece after the departure of Deakin, and it is the group's breakthrough pop album. It has an electronic sound that isn't very comparable to the rest of the group's albums. It was a critical and commercial success. It was named Pitchfork Media's Album of the Year for 2009.
This album soon replaced Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished on the /mu/core charts, and eventually became one of the most popular and iconic /mu/core albums. It could be seen as a staple of the board culture, and, by some, is held in the same regard as In the Aeroplane Over the Sea.
An EP of outtakes from the album was released later that year, titled Fall Be Kind.
