Deathconsciousness by the Dan Barretts and The Nice Lifes
Deathconsciousness is the first album by the future-shoegaze band Have A Nice Life. It is a double album, separated into "The Plow That Broke The Plains" and "The Future", which are the first and second discs respectively. The album has received very positive critical reception, receiving a 7/10 from Piero Scaruffi and a 4.5 out of 5 on Sputnikmusic.
Album Cover and Packaging[]
The album artwork is a darkened version of the Jacques-Louis David painting, The Death of Marat, which documents the death of French revolutionary leader Jean-Paul Marat. The album came packaged with a 75 page booklet entitled “On An Obscure Text”, documenting the life, literature, and followers of a 13th century Italian writer and religious figure named Antiochus. The album was later pressed on vinyl in 2009.
The album is distributed by Enemies List Home Recordings.
Loss of the Masters[]
Dan lost the master WAV files in a hard drive crash. Because of this, Deathconsciousness' "masters" are sourced from lossy MP3 files.
